Water Project — A Journey Through Water, Life, and Forgetfulness
Water Project is a poetic documentary journey into the essence of life — a series exploring the meaning, presence, and fragility of water within human existence.
Beginning in Fars Province, each episode portrays one of the region’s vital waters — lakes, rivers, or springs — that once shaped the living memory of this land.
The project seeks to reflect on our human connection with water: not merely as a natural resource, but as a living being — carrying culture, memory, and life itself.
Episode I — Lake of Memories
In the heart of Fars, where the wind carries the scent of salt and forgotten rain, lies Lake Maharloo — once a mirror of life, now fading in silence.
Lake of Memories is not merely a story about a lake; it is a reflection of our relationship with water, with existence.
This film was born from a simple question: What happens when we lose what once gave us breath?
Told in three movements — introduction, vitality, and threat — the documentary follows Maharloo’s fragile journey: its beauty, its crucial role in Shiraz’s ecosystem, and the quiet violence of its decline.
It stands as both an elegy and a call — to remember, to care, and to see water not as a resource, but as a living memory that connects us to this land.
